How to View Contact Profiles, Engagement History, and Activity in Grigora

Behind every email address in your audience is an individual subscriber. In Grigora, the Contact Profile Drawer provides an instant side-panel view of any subscriber, allowing you to update profile information, manage list memberships, assign tags, inspect legal consent history, and review individual email activity.

This guide explains how to open the contact profile drawer, manage subscriber attributes, and track email interactions using the Activity timeline and the Last engaged metric.

Accessing a Contact's Profile Drawer

  1. In your Grigora dashboard, navigate to Newsletter > Contacts.

  2. Locate the subscriber in the table using the search bar (Search by email or name) or active status/list/tag filters.

  3. Click anywhere on the subscriber's row in the table. The Contact Profile Drawer will immediately slide open from the right side of your screen.

Profile Header & Status

The top of the drawer displays the contact's essential identity details:

  • Avatar & Name: Shows the subscriber's initials avatar and full name (or email address if no name is on file).

  • Email Address: Listed beneath the subscriber's name.

  • Status Dot & Badge: Shows the contact's current global subscription state:

    • Subscribed (green dot): Active subscriber eligible to receive campaigns.

    • Pending (amber dot): Awaiting double opt-in email confirmation.

    • Unsubscribed (slate dot): Contact opted out of all emails.

    • Cleaned (red dot): Address was removed after repeated bounces.

    • Complained (red dot): Address reported an email as spam.

  • Provenance Metadata: Displays when and how the contact joined your list, formatted as Added {time} via {source} (for example, Added 5 hours ago via Import or Added 2 hours ago via Manual).

Status Banners: If a contact has special status flags, an informative banner appears directly below the header. For example, contacts on the do-not-send list show a red On the do-not-send list banner, pending double opt-in subscribers show a Waiting for them to confirm banner, and GDPR-erased subscribers show a Their data was erased banner.

Details & Custom Fields

Under the Details section, you can review and update contact profile attributes:

  • First name & Last name: Editable text fields for subscriber names.

  • Phone: International phone field with country code picker.

  • Custom Fields: Any custom properties configured in your project under Newsletter > Settings > Custom fields (such as Company, Account Tier, City, or Birthday) appear with editable input fields.

To apply changes made in the Details section, click the solid purple Save changes button in the bottom-right drawer footer.

Managing List Memberships

The Lists section displays every subscriber publication in your project:

  • Opt-In Mode: If a list requires email verification, a small double opt-in label appears next to the list name.

  • Status Pill: Indicates membership status on that specific list:

    • subscribed (green pill): Contact actively receives sends for this list.

    • unconfirmed (amber pill): Awaiting confirmation click.

    • not on list / unsubscribed (slate pill): Not currently enrolled.

  • Action Buttons:

    • Click Remove to unsubscribe the contact from that specific list while keeping their other list memberships intact.

    • Click Add to enroll the contact into the list immediately (available for opted-in contacts).

Assigning and Removing Tags

The Tags section provides a quick, interactive way to categorize subscribers:

  • All tags created in your project appear as rounded pill chips.

  • Active Tags: Highlighted in lavender with a purple border and text (e.g., UK Subscriber, VIP Customer).

  • Inactive Tags: Displayed with a neutral gray border.

  • Instant Toggle: Clicking any tag immediately adds it to or removes it from the subscriber—no need to click save.

Consent History Audit Trail

To support compliance and privacy records (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CCPA), Grigora logs verified consent milestones under Consent history:

  • Action: The consent action taken (e.g., import, subscribe, confirm).

  • List & Channel: The associated list and signup channel (e.g., Newsletter · via import, or via web).

  • Consent Statement: Displays the exact legal disclosure text recorded at sign-up (e.g., “Imported by site owner”).

  • IP Address & Timestamp: The IP address (if captured) and relative time when consent was recorded.

Understanding Email Activity & Engagement

Subscriber engagement in Grigora is tracked through real-time activity logs and table recency metrics:

1. The Activity Timeline (In the Profile Drawer)

Located under the Activity section of the drawer, this feed chronologically logs every individual email event for this contact:

  • sent: Recorded each time a campaign email is dispatched to the subscriber.

  • opened: Logged when the subscriber opens an email. If an open was pre-fetched automatically by email privacy services (such as Apple Mail Privacy Protection), Grigora clearly flags it with an amber (machine open) tag.

  • clicked: Recorded when the subscriber clicks a link in your email, displaying the exact destination URL visited directly in the line item.

  • bounced: Logged if an email cannot be delivered.

  • complained: Logged if the recipient files a spam complaint.

  • Timestamp: Shows relative time (e.g., 2 hours ago, 5 hours ago) with full date details on hover.

Note on Rates vs. Events: Individual contact profiles show exact chronological interaction events rather than aggregate percentages (such as overall open rate or click rate). Overall open rates and click rates are calculated across campaigns and can be viewed in your Campaign Reports.

2. Last Engaged & Added Dates (In the Contacts Table)

To see at-a-glance engagement recency across your entire audience, look at the main Newsletter > Contacts table:

  • Last engaged: Displays how recently the subscriber opened or clicked an email (e.g., 2 hours ago, 3 days ago, or Never for unengaged contacts). You can also sort the entire table by Last engaged using the sort dropdown menu.

  • Added: Displays how long the subscriber has been in your database (e.g., 5 hours ago, 2 months ago).

Drawer Actions: Unsubscribe & Delete

In the bottom-left footer of the Contact Drawer, the More actions menu provides contact lifecycle management:

  • Unsubscribe: Manually opts the subscriber out of all publications (prompts a confirmation modal: Unsubscribe this contact?).

  • Subscribe again: If a contact was previously unsubscribed and requests re-activation, this option restores their status.

  • Delete contact: Permanently removes the contact and their data from your Grigora project (prompts a confirmation modal: Delete this contact?).
